Stroke Research
Stroke is the leading cause of severe acquired disability in Canadian adults - currently, more than 300,000 Canadians are living with the effects of stroke. With every 50,000 Canadians diagnosed with stroke every year, over half will be disabled for life and 14,000 will die. Just as troubling, for every clinically diagnosed stroke there is an estimate of ten silent strokes.

To improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of stroke, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut (HSFA) supports two Professorships in Stroke Research - Dr. Ken Butcher at the University of Alberta and Dr. Michael Hill at the University of Calgary.
